It's a Boy!

Friday November 12th we had our 20 week check up & the anatomy scan.  Baby was very cooperative this visit & made himself known within 30 seconds of the technician starting the scan, and yes I did say he!  Below are just some pictures from the visit.

We are currently working on a name for our little guy, but it is nice to finally be able to call him a he.  The doctor says he is measuring nicely and right on time, with the due date still April 2nd.  His heartbeat was nice and strong at 140 beat per minute, and I believe we might have a thumb/finger sucker on our hands.

I'm doing well & have so far gained only about 10lbs.  The doctor is saying I should gain about 10 more, but I have a slight feeling it may be a little more like 15.  We'll see though.   We have another appointment in 4 weeks, though I don't think we'll be doing an ultrasound.  I'll keep everyone up to date on our progress & when we have decided on a name.

Our little guy.  This is the second time we've caught him with fingers in his mouth

This was the cutest thing I've seen, he was practicing his yawning.

He wasn't being shy.  He wanted everyone to know.

Baby Walton Update...

So I'm a little behind on this.  I am now currently 17 weeks a long, and everything has been going quite smoothly.  I think that I have had it quite easy for this being my 1st pregnancy.  Morning sickness lasted only 3 weeks and was over before the second trimester even started!

The pictures below was taken at our last ultrasound on September 29th.  The baby measured around 13cm long and had a heartbeat of about 158.

Side Profile
During this ultrasound they were testing for down syndrome, but since the baby was sleeping, it wasn't being very cooperative; when the baby was cooperating my uterus was not so they were unable to do the testing, but it was nice to see the baby for a good 30 mins moving, squirming, and flipping around.

I had another appointment scheduled for October 22nd, were they pulled blood to redo the testing that they weren't able to do at the previous appoint.  I got the hear the baby's heartbeat and it move.  Even though I was unable to feel it, the doctor says it was very good movement & it was funny to hear it kick at the doppler.  I go back November 12th for the anatomy scan, and we finally know what our little peanut is.  I can't wait I'm so excited.

All-in-all I have been doing good.  I've gained a total of 12lbs so far, and the doctor says I'm gaining it at a good pace, and to keep it up, we'll see if I can keep up with it, since from my understanding this is the trimester when the most weight is gained.  I will continue to keep everyone updated as I progress & maybe throw in a few profile pictures of the baby bump.

Baby Walton on the way!

Yes, you heard me correctly!  Back in July we found out that we are expecting our first child.  I had taken one pregnancy test and it came back negative & I didn't think anything of it.  Well about a week later I was cleaning out underneath our bathroom sink & found the 2 remaining test, and decided that I would just pee on a stick so that I could just throw them out, needless to say I wasn't expecting a + to pop up in the window!

This isn't a planned pregnancy, but we are both very excited!  We had our first sonogram done at our doctors visit August 13th.  Below you can see our little peanut.  They determined that I was almost 7 weeks along making the new due date of April 2, 2011.  Hearing the heartbeat was amazing.  I knew what it was right away, but by the time Nick had figured it out, the technician moved on to measuring.  I was a little disappointed she didn't let us listen to it longer, but its all good.  Our next appointment is September 24th, by then I will be finishing up my 12th week.  I will have an ultrasound done as well as blood work for routine testing.
